Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of Diablo Immortal, has announced that the release date of its mobile ARPG has been delayed, as the game needs some polishing. Many gamers are criticizing the delay, but it’s best to give the developers time to make sure you get a quality experience. A blog post from Blizzard confirmed the news. Diablo Immortal release date is now scheduled in the first half of 2022. Previously, the game was supposed to be released this year but, we will have to be patient. As a reminder, the game entered its alpha phase in 2020. In this closed technical alpha phase, the game introduced tons of new features. This has reawakened the hype around the game that seemed to be slowly fading away.
Diablo Immortal release delayed for good reason.
“This is just a preview of what we’re working on to give you a Diablo experience you’ll enjoy. We’re preparing for another period of closed testing later this year, consisting of improvements based on what we’ve learned from the closed alpha and other community feedback. To the community, thank you for your patience and continued support for Diablo Immortal. So, the game is now scheduled for release in the first half of 2022, which will allow us to add substantial improvements to the overall game.”
New mobile content based on player feedback!
Blizzard explained that the game is still in development. The content of the game, as it currently stands, is not final and is subject to change. The game will feature 8-players raids and new PvE-focused raids in the Helliquary system. The bounty system will be more engaging and lucrative for players. In addition, Diablo fans who take more risks on Challenge Rifts will be rewarded more with exclusive upgrade materials.
On the other hand, PvP gameplay is at the center of the testing phases. The goal is to improve the balance of PvP in order to limit players frustration. The developers are currently focusing on TTK (Time to Kill) and matchmaking optimization. The Cycle of Strife mode, where players face the Immortals of Sanctuary, will also be further optimized for the enjoyment of high-level players.
“We’re still working through the challenges of adapting the touchscreen controls to a controller seamlessly,” the post states. It appears that players will be able to enjoy the game via controllers in the upcoming beta. Blizzard said that the community has been a “key collaborator” since the game began its closed alpha test, and that it has helped them to shape their vision for this demon-slaying ARPG.
As you can imagine, we’ll have to be patient before we can release our barbarians and other demon hunters! We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the latest news about Diablo Immortal.
